Hollywood just can’t seem to get enough of remakes and reboots these days, and I can’t really say that I blame them. I mean remakes and reboots don’t always turn out great some of them are masterpieces, and manage to stand on their own from the originals. Examples of some great TV show reboots would be MacGyver, Hawaii Five O and Sabrina the Teenage Witch all of these shows were wildly popular. Back in the early 70s and late 90s, and have been remade in the 2000s.

All of these shows have gone on too do so good some fans like them better than the originals. But exactly how does Hollywood pick shows to start remaking when most of these shows end on a pretty good note, and don’t leave that much to be desired. Well I like to believe that time plays a big part in reboots so this list is going to consist of shows that could use a reboot right about now, and shows that need to just be left alone for another five years or so.

No Reboot: Pretty Little Liars

We’re kicking this list off with an ionic TV show that captured the hearts of kids, teenagers, young adults, and older people. When it first premiered back in 2010 the show is Pretty Little Liars a show based off a book series by Sara Shepard, about four girls trying unmask someone tormmenting them constantly that calls themselves A. The main reason why the show is kicking the list off is because it was recently picked up for a reboot by.

The creator of Riverdale and I know I’m not the only the fan who caused an uproar. Upon hearing about this news why are some many fans against a reboot right now? Because the show just went off the air three years ago you still have some people who haven’t even finished season 7 yet, and someone already wants to redo it. If there is any show in the world right now that doesn’t need a reboot it is this one. Like I said time has to play some part in redoing these shows, and PLL fans haven’t had enough time to really get over the original.

Not to mention this show already had another run in PLL: The Perfectionists, and even though the show was cancelled. A lot of fans were in love with the spin-off and blamed the poor rating on. Not enough advertisement and the fact that Hulu isn’t available in every country limiting the amount of people able to stream it. Most fans wish they would just bring that show back to for season 2 instead of redoing the original. Both of these shows are just too fresh and one left fans with too much desire in terms of an ending. So out of all shows that don’t need a reboot right now Pretty Little Liars are on the top list.

Needs Reboot: Buffy The Vampire Slayer

When it comes to shows from the 90s that could use a reboot there is no better show than Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This show right here was truly ionic and loved even after all these years you still have some diehard Buffy fans (me included). And while most people were a little bit skeptical at first at the sound of a Buffy reboot. The idea kind of grew on most people after all Hollywood has been teasing a Buffy remake for almost four years now. But still nothing signcifcant has happened in getting the reboot going.

No scripts or casting just a bunch of talk which is shame because unlike some of these shows. Buffy the Vampire Slayer overall storyline leaves room for new characters and new adventures. The mythology of the shows says that every generation has their whole slayer so a reboot with a whole new slayer would make sense. No recreating Buffy hereself or the Scooby gang everyone can truly start from scratch, and give us a whole new show.

No Reboot: The Vampire Diaries

Now there are no talks about there being an reboot for this show yet, but some people do play around with the idea. So I feel like this show isn’t completely safe from being rebooted so soon the Vampire Diaries just ended on season 8 back in 2017. It’s been a solid three years almost four since the series finale, so no one is asking for an reboot at all. But time isn’t the only reason this show doesn’t need a reboot yet. The other and most important reason is that the show still lives on in the successful spin-off series.

Legacies you have Vampire diaries alum Alaric as one of the main characters while some of the show focuses on his daughters with Caroline. Who is bound to make an appearance on the show at some point not to mention other past characters have made appearances like Jeremy Gilbert and Kai. the creator of the spin-off has also hinted at Elena and Damon’s daughter existing and making an appearance in the future. So it really wouldn’t make since to reboot this show when the stories are still being told in the eyes of the original character’s kids.

Needs Reboot: The Secret Circle

The author of the Vampire Diaries almost had another successful show based off her books, but for some odd reason beyond me. CW made one of biggest mistakes that all networks make at some point and cancelled a really awesome show with so much potential. They say the main reason the show was canned was because of poor ratings and the studio couldn’t have fueled the production cost. But forgive me if I don’t believe that maybe the budget was tight but I think they could’ve made it work. If they really wanted to the magic on the show was never too over the top, and couldn’t have cost that much to do. But they had a choice to make and the Vampire Diaries was the more popular show so it makes sense that.

The Secret Circle would be the show to go but still they left so many stories untold, and while no one would be able to pick up exactly where season 1 left off. They could follow the same formula and actually finish the story this time. Even after all these years The Secret Circle still has a loyal fan base. Who hopes that one day someone would attempt to revive the show. After all if Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Charmed can be revived why can’t the Secret Circle. It would take the right cast and the right storytelling but this show could be the next big thing for a network or streaming service.

No Reboot: Teen Wolf

Are you seeing my formula now with shows that don’t need a reboot they all have one thing in common. Each of these shows didn’t go off not too long ago just TVD this show aired its series finale back in late 2017. There was suppose to be a web series spin-off with Scott and a new pack, but for some reason it never happened. Also just like with TVD there has been no official announcement on a real reboot, but some people do play around with the idea.

And I wouldn’t put it past someone to try and reboot the show so soon. After all there is a unwanted PLL reboot in the works but with an original movie for the 90s and this ionic show. Teen Wolf really doesn’t need a reboot anytime soon if they decide to do a spin-off. That would be okay if hopefully they could convince some of the actors from the original show to come back. But to just redo the whole show that’s a no-no the original is way too fresh.

Needs Reboot: Tru Calling

Most people wouldn’t consider this show to be ionic most people probably don’t even remember this show. It premiered so long ago and only ran for two seasons before being cancelled for the simple fact. That the network that another show would do much better and said show didn’t really live up to the expectations. But the network probably just figured there was no point in trying to revive the show after letting it go.

For people who don’t know remember the show or what it was about let me break it down for you. Tru Calling was about a girl with the ability to go back in time and try to prevent a stranger’s death. The person would die and when Tru was around the dead body the person would call out to her, and her day would restart. She would have to track down the victim and figure out what got them killed and who did it. So she could stop it from happening it was a nice supernatural twist on crime TV show especially considering that. Tru wasn’t like a detective or cop and wasn’t best friends with one or anything.

It was very good and enjoyable show and it would be nice to see where the storyline could’ve gone. If it was given a second chance crime shows never go out of style people love them and always love to see. Something different enough time has passed that most people probably wouldn’t even realize that this show is a reboot. The show premiered back in 2003 and aired it’s final episode back in 2008 and there haven’t been reruns of the show in a long time. So this show has a lot potential to make a good comeback.
